Grey wagtail

Grey wagtail (Motacilla cinerea), regularly visits Merapi National Park during winter in northern hemisphere. But this male in breeding plumage seems to stay, and likely turns resident. I photographed this species in Merapi National Park last October and again yesterday at the same spot. 

I was hiding under the shadow of a Calliandra callothyrsus as a Sunda thrush (Zoothera andromedae), landed and perched for quite a while before it sensed my presence and jumped off the branch.

White-flanked sunbird, up close

White-flanked sunbird (Aethopyga eximia) in Merapi National Park. Shot early in the morning, this female bird was found foraging on a hibiscus stem.
